Lil Boosie refers to Nino Brown in the track Better Believe It: "Give back to the hood like Nino Brown."
An audio clip from the movie is used at the conclusion of Immortal Technique's 2003 song "Peruvian Cocaine". And the title "New Jack City" was mentioned on the follow up album, The 3rd World, in his song "Death March": "New Jack City classic crack era mack-milli."
The Notorious B.I.G. referenced New Jack City in the lyrics of his song "Suicidal Thoughts" from his 1994 album, Ready To Die where he said "You see it's kinda like the crack did to Pookie, in New Jack, except when I cross over, ain't no coming back." On another song, "Everyday Struggle", also from the same album, he raps "we got infiltrated like Nino at The Carter".
In Lil' Wayne's song " I'm single" he references New Jack City with the lyric "I had to cancel that bitch like nino".
In Kanye West's song "Big Brother" he references New Jack City with the lyric "New Jack City gotta keep my brother, but to be number 1 I got to beat my brother".
DJ Scoob Doo has made two Documentaries about Lil' Wayne called The Nino Brown Story Pt. 1 & Pt. 2.
In 2009 Lil' Bow Wow made an album called New Jack City II
Ice Cube refers to the film in the song No Country For Young Men. "It was blue black like Wesley Snipes in New Jack"
Dave Chappelle references Nino Brown in a season two episode of his show where his crack dealer character Tron states: "When it's Thanksgiving, I be passin' around turkeys like Nino Brown, baby!"
In 2010, Rick Ross's song "Aston Martin Music" he references New Jack City with the lyric "addicted like Pookie that p**** be controllin' me."
In Wiz Khalifa's 2009 song "Sky High" off of the "Flight School" mixtape, he references Nino with the line "started from the bottom yeah made it like zero, got it on lock now feelin like Nino!"
